In addition to prizes, creators will also have the opportunity to build their art studios in The Sandbox, a metaverse to be launched by APENFT and TRON. This call is open to creators of any age, nationality (not eligible for residents of UN and OFAC-sanctioned countries or regions), and profession. It welcomes digital artwork submitted by individuals and teams in a variety of mediums, including video, animation, virtual reality, augmented reality, sound art, and data-driven art, among others.
“The most essential quality that sets us apart from other calls is our core values – great inclusion and openness – which are also the values that govern the world of NFTs; here, every good job has a chance to be seen,” said said Sydney Xiong, Director of the APENFT Foundation, “We have always been committed to nurturing and supporting young artists and creators who are open-minded, bold, imaginative and capable of injecting new vitality into the artistic sphere.”
The same openness and inclusivity permeates the Art Dream Fund review process. This year’s review panel includes more than ten artists, curators, auction experts, art professionals and financial practitioners. We can expect this diversity in panel selection to feature opinions from diverse fields such as art, finance, technology and design, allowing for a more comprehensive evaluation of submissions. Expert juries include Philip Tinari (director of the UCCA Center for Contemporary Art), Jonathan Crockett (president of Asia at Phillips), Josh Baer (artistic advisor), Sylvain Levy (renowned collector) and Conlan Rios (founder of Async Art); the nomination and selection jury includes Cheng Ran (contemporary artist), Laura Shao from the Hive Center for Contemporary Art, Kenny Schachter (art writer), Ciara Sun (co-founder of C² Ventures), Claire Huang (Async Art Advisor & Columnist), Mimi Nguyen (Lecturer at the University of the Arts in London). Working with community members, the Nominating and Selection Committee will nominate 50 candidates for the final based on their votes.
Themed “Second Life,” last year’s open call received more than 500 entries, including WMD Studio’s Infinite Falling taking home the top prize, and submissions from Verdi Jackson, Kong, Allyn Belfred and Chengcheng Shi won the innovation awards. In January 2022, all winning works were sold at an auction during the online exhibition co-organized by APENFT and LiveArtX at Cryptovoxels. This year, in addition to the three existing awards, APENFT has partnered with Async Art to create the “Async Visual-Audio Award” for Programmable Art to encourage experimentation and innovation in art forms. interactive art. As Conlan Rios, founder of Async Art, put it,
“Async Art provides tools for anyone to create visual and audio interactive NFTs, without needing to master coding and programming knowledge. Through the Async Visual-Audio Prize, we invite artists to join us in overturning the existing concept of art and ushering in a whole new category of programmable media. It’s just the beginning, but we think these simple building blocks will open up a world of possibilities for creators, and we’re really excited to see the awesome ways people could use it.
Participants will have the opportunity to attend workshops co-organized by APENFT and Async Art and possibly receive NFT airdrops based on Blueprints.
