Minister of Municipal Administration and Urban Development A. Suresh on Wednesday laid the foundation stone for infrastructure development in Phase III of SRM-AP University.
In the early phases, two university blocks, an administrative block, a research building, dining halls, an auditorium and six hostel buildings were constructed and they are functioning in their own right.
P. Sathyanarayanan, President of SRM-AP University, said the new infrastructure is being created in an area of 10,000 square feet. “It’s the faculty, the students and the opportunities that make a university, not the bricks and mortar. We have proven track records in research, entrepreneurship, job placement and higher education,” he said, adding that the foundation was laid on the auspicious day of “Guru Purnima”.
A multitude of facilities for research, innovation and entrepreneurship will be open to students.
In a statement, TR Paarivendhar, founding Chancellor of the SRM Group of Educational Institutions, said the new projects would give a boost to the state’s modern education ecosystem.
The new phase will see centers of excellence in artificial intelligence and machine learning, data and analytics, sustainability and other futuristic areas of research and innovation and state-of-the-art classrooms. technology, he said.
In his address, Pro-Vice Chancellor D. Narayana Rao highlighted the range of opportunities at SRM-AP University. Mr. Suresh acknowledged the contributions of the SRM group of institutions in bridging the gap between haves and have-nots.
Vice Chancellor VS Rao said SRM-AP was established with a comprehensive vision to provide quality education and international exposure to students in Andhra Pradesh.
The minister handed out certificates and President’s scholarship up to ₹5 lakh to students in batch 2022, who started successful entrepreneurial ventures, got renowned job placements and got opportunities in graduate studies at top universities world.
APSCHE President Hemachandra Reddy and University Registrar R. Premkumar also attended the occasion.
