Mysore/Mysore: The Regional Institute of Education (RIE), NCERT, Mysuru, will celebrate its 60th Foundation Day tomorrow (August 1) at 10 a.m. in the Institute’s Technology Block Quadrangle.
Dr. Subramanian Swamy, former Union Minister, will be the chief guest and deliver the Sardar Panikkar Memorial Lecture. Prof. G. Hemantha Kumar, Vice Chancellor of Mysore University (UoM), will be the guest of honor. Prof. Y. Sreekanth, Principal, RIE, Mysuru will be present on the occasion. The Regional Institute of Education (formerly Regional College of Education) was established in 1963 with the main objective of improving the quality of school education through innovative programs of initial and continuous teacher training and undertake research, development and extension activities in the South. Region. The RIE has established itself as a renowned institute in the field of school and teacher training. The Institute offers courses from pre-primary to doctoral level. Through the Inter-University Center for Teacher Education (IUCTE), RIE also networks with all teacher education institutions in the Southern Region and has launched several certificate programs. The Sardar Panikkar Memorial Lecture Series was introduced in 1964 in memory of the valuable services rendered by the late Sardar Panikkar to the development of education in India. As Vice-Chancellor of UoM, he has shown a deep interest in the development of RIE.
